Current News and Rumors

From GW UK

1) We have various requests for more information about Codex : Sisters of Battle:

Andy Chambers replies: Codex Sisters of Battle will be released in Spring 2002, and is written by Gav Thorpe and Pete Haines.
The army is intended to be expanded beyond the pure Sisters list in 40K to include Martyrs, Redemptionists, Archo-flagellants etc. for more of a Crusade feel. We're also hoping to do a box of plastic Sisters.

2) And for the Eldar players who have asked, we have no immediate plans to release any new Craftworld armies.

3) We've had lots of quite detailed questions about Tyranids, which we'll try to answer next week.

 Fanatic Games

Here at Rumour Control we get a lot of requests for information on some of our older games - Warhammer Quest, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Epic etc. You want to know what our long term plans are for these systems, and what the future holds. Well, here's your answer.

Here at the Games Workshop Design Studio, we have small teams of designers, artists & sculptors who work tirelessly on various projects to give you access to the very latest miniatures and rules developments for the Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 universes. However, there are only so many hours in the day, and this means that we can only ever support some games systems for so long before the next project starts getting in the way. This was never something we were happy about, as we realised that there were a lot of you out there who were still playing, and who wanted more models & rules.

Enter Fanatic!

That most venerable of all games designers, Captain Jervis Johnson, has been sent from the Studio to become head of Fanatic Games, a part of Games Workshop absolutely 100% committed to supporting these games systems so long as you want to play them. The last few months have seen new releases for Battlefleet Gothic, Mordheim and Warmaster, as well as new floor plans for Warhammer Quest. This is just the beginning, as Jervis and his team have some really great surprises in store for all players of these games so watch the skies. Even better, take a stroll over to the Fanatic website at www.fanatic-games.co.uk where you can keep right up to date with developments.

4) And now for three questions about Space Wolves from Neil Yule, sagely answered by Pete Haines:

Do Wolf Lord Ragnar Blackmane and Wolf Lord Logan Grimnar count as independent characters?

Pete Haines answers: Both are independent characters unless they are accompanied by Wolf Guard bodyguard.

Can Wolf Lord Ragnar Blackmane and Wolf Lord Logan Grimnar have Fenrisian wolves to accompany them in battle?

Pete Haines answers: No, if you read page 28 for Ragnar Blackmane it says 'He must be used as described here and may not be given extra equipment or wargear'. And on page 27 for Logan Grimnar there is a similar condition.

Can a Wolf Lord and his Fenrisian wolves be shot at as if they were a small squad or do you count them all as independent characters that cannot be shot at if they are within 6" of any friendly forces?

Pete Haines answers: They are treated like a unit and can be shot at. However they are able to join another unit whch is then led by the character.

5) And a desperate plea - The Rumour Servitors are programmed to understand a wide variety of European languages, but please help us to help you by communicating in English wherever possible!

MAD STUFF. Where this humble servant of the Emperor attempts to answer some of the wilder rumours that have reached us from the least civilised parts of the Imperium.

RUMOURS ARCHIVE. Delve deep into the hollowed corridors of the Administratum's secret archives to find long lost tomes of forbidden knowledge and other heretical texts. Be warned, as this accursed information could cost you your sanity.
